I have tutored many high school students, and even more college students, and I believe that confidence is often a student's biggest obstacle with math. I help students realize that they can succeed by helping them clearly understand any vague concepts with which they struggle. Then, as teaching is often the best way to learn, I ensure that they can explain all concepts back to me. Finally, to solidify the knowledge, we work on practice problem after practice problem until we know the material like the back of our hands.

I recently obtained my Master's degree of Mathematics at CSUN and completed my undergraduate degree at UCLA. I have tutored for more than 100 hours in the CSUN Math tutoring center and have helped many students understand concepts that had previously seemed foreign to them. I have been told by many students who do not study math that I made it seem relevant and coherent to them in ways that no one else had. I have worked with high school students who have improved their grades by a whole letter grade. I am determined to help every student succeed, or else I will not have done my job.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

I have experienced tutoring students for higher level math standardized tests and am very skilled at identifying tips and tricks for improving scores.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 will involve learning how to factor quadratics and graph linear equations. We will work through keys to help you understand and learn the material so you will have a solid foundation for future classes, such as Algebra 2.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 was my favorite academic class I ever took in high school, and it is now one of my favorite classes to tutor and teach. As a tutor in the math tutoring center at CSUN, Algebra 2 is one of the most common classes I tutor, helping students understand functions, graphs and their shifts, understanding logarithms, and more. I am teaching Algebra 2 to high school students this summer, so I am definitely a qualified and enthusiastic tutor about this subject.
Calculus

Calculus

Calculus is one of my favorite subjects in math. I have tutored students in limits, derivatives, and integration, and my favorite part of Calculus is teaching related rates. No matter what topic of calculus you need help with, we will work together to ensure that the concepts become clear for you.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I am a Center Director at a local Mathnasium, so I have tons of experience working with elementary school students on basic math concepts. I know how to keep your child on track and explain concepts in ways that they can understand.
Geometry

Geometry

I’ve tutored numerous students in both regular and honors geometry. I’ve worked with students in summer intensive programs and helped them keep up and thrive along the way. I will make sure your student has a clear understanding of the geometry concepts so they can apply them in numerous different scenarios.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

Linear algebra is the subject concerning matrices and determinants and solving linear systems. At the high school level, most calculations are for determining the matrix's determinant, adding and subtracting matrices, multiplying matrices, and finding matrix inverses. I have studied linear algebra at the high school and college level, and I have tutored college students in the subject as well. I am able to help students really grasp the concepts behind matrix properties so they can move forward in their studies.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Prealgebra is the foundation for all math that you will learn. It focuses on learning how to use variables and solve equations. This classes teaches you a new way to look at numbers, and we will go through this new system together.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I’ve tutored many private students on Precalculus, and I’ve also been a long-term substitute teacher for Precalculus. I’ve helped students improve their grades by two letter grades!
SAT Math

SAT Math

SAT Math changes from year to year, but when I took the SAT in high school, I received an 800 in the Math section. I understand the concepts that the College Board is testing and can help students pick out little tricks and keys to make problems easier to tackle. They will develop a more concrete knowledge of algebra 2, geometry, and basic arithmetic.

Very patient and helpful

Julie was a great help to my daughter. And when there was a part of her calculus homework that Julie didn’t have the solution to at her fingertips, she researched the issue and sent my daughter screenshots of the work demonstrating how to solve it. Extremely happy with her!
