I've previously worked as a Physics, Math, and Statistics tutor for the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez, and for Cal State LA. I'm currently teaching Introductory Physics courses at Cal State LA. A reasonable amount of my teaching experience has been tutoring for Undergraduate, Graduate, and High School level Math and Physics courses. I also have plenty of experience tutoring for all other subject areas and grade levels, and particularly with science courses.

Approved Subjects

Accuplacer

Accuplacer

I have more than 15 years of experience preparing college students for their math, reading, and writing placement tests, such as the College Board's Accuplacer and the ACT's Compass. My first session involves a diagnostic test, in order to determine the student's weak areas and design a lesson plan that works best for the student, usually no more than 2 additional sessions. I then proceed to fill in gaps related to the subject areas, drawing from my experience as a teacher and tutor. I also teach test-taking strategies and try to build student confidence, drawing from my experience both as a test taker and a test prep tutor.
ACT Math

ACT Math

I more than 5 years of experience tutoring for the ACT Math (and all other sections of the ACT), in addition to almost 20 years of experience teaching math prep in other standardized tests such as the CEEB, SAT, ASVAB, GRE, and the MCAT. As a test taker, I've taken the CEEB, SAT, ASVAB, and GRE, with the percentiles of most of my Math scores in the higher 90's. I can help going over both the background Math required to solve the problem and the shortcuts to answer questions quickly and effectively so that you can do well in the ACT.
AFOQT

AFOQT

I have more than 10 years of experience as an AFOQT Tutor. I've tutored for all of the sections in the test, although most of my students have asked me for help in the quantitative portion. My method consists of practice questions in order to identify student gaps, explanations of the skills involved along with examples, and finally homework questions so that the student can practice.
Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I have 7 years of experience tutoring Biostatistics in addition to my 12 years of experience as a probability and statistics tutor. I've tutored from undergraduate level courses, all the way to masters (MPH, MS) and doctoral level (DNP, PhD) courses in Biostatistics and Epidemiology. I focus on making sense out of the topics discussed by simplifying the concepts. The two main questions I seek to answer in my sessions are: what does it mean and why is it used? I also give examples of applications, shortcuts, and pitfalls to avoid when designing and analyzing studies, so that students develop intuition on the subject. I have taken a year of graduate level coursework in Biostatistics, in addition to a year of coursework in Mathematical Statistics and graduate level Statistical Data Analysis. I also have experience with multiple software and numerical packages used for statistical analysis such as R, SPSS, Minitab, Excel, and Python (numpy, scipy, pandas).

Knowledgeable and Patient tutor

Yese is an excellent tutor. He has helped me understand concepts in my MBA class. He is very good with project management. I recommend Yese very highly. My first lesson with Yese was at the beginning of my MBA program. I had tried 3 other tutors but it did not work so well. After my first lesson with Yese, I did not look again. He is very skilled, kind and patient. If you need help with math, physics, MBA, Accounting, Finance, Yese is the person to go to. You will not be disappointed. Yese helps you understand the concepts. - Lilly

Highly knowledgeable in AP Physics and Chemistry

We have great experiences with Yese. He first taught my daughter AP physics and was able to review and tutor her and got her caught up in her AP exam… ended up with a passing grade. Supper happy. He is now teaching my son AP physics, we trust that my son will receive the same benefits as well. He is committed, patient and helpful in helping out with questions you have. Such an incredible being with a kind personality. We will definitely recommend him to anyone who needs help in physics and chemistry.

Great Tutor!

Yese was really able to help me out with understanding the topics/concepts that I needed in Linear Algebra. He was also willing to meet up on short notice to help me prep for a linear algebra final, which I’m super grateful for. Overall, he was very good at explaining and he was very patient and made sure that I understood everything. I would definitely recommend Yese.
