Great ideas to work with our autistic son!

James was super creative in his approach to tutoring our Michael. With level 2 ASD and ADHD Mike has always struggled with learning... also how to present himself, who to model and even how to speak clearly. James was patient, adaptive and kept Mike engaged for a full hour. Would highly recommend and look forward to continuing to work together on team Michael!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

My son got a full score (100%) thanks to super talented James’ last minute help with writing, Shakespeare as literature, oral presentation skills, and coaching Shakespeare acting performance. Don’t hesitate to book a lesson with James. He is very dedicated to his teaching and is very responsible.

EXTRAORDINARY tutor. A gift.

We had the very good fortune of being able to hire James as an acting coach for our 17 year old son last Summer, specifically to help him prepare for and navigate his taped audition monologues for his college applications. It is difficult to put into words just how much a lifeline James was for us during that time- and continues to be! We were all new to this process and James handled it all so beautifully. He is incredibly thoughtful, patient and passionate about helping kids/adults reach their full potential. Hudson was immediately at ease with James and they developed a shorthand right away. James just instinctively knew how to best communicate with him during such a stressful time and it was a huge relief for us as his parents to be able to step back a bit and let James take the reins- which he did to perfection. We just knew we could trust him implicitly. James started the process by curating a very thoughtful list of monologues for Hud to peruse and choose from. My husband who has been a prolific television writer and producer for over 40 years was impressed right off the bat by his instincts and choices for Hud. They worked hard together to choose the right monologues for each college he was applying to- no easy feat- and then began weeks and weeks of practicing them. Hudson was highly stressed- naturally- during this time but he always looked forward to James' visits and they worked beautifully together. James worked diligently on the timing of the monologues as the schools had very specific requests for timelines. He also brought over all of his own equipment and began taping Hud during each session. Slowly and meticulously over the next few months they created several taped monologues that were incredible- even Shakespeare which Hudson had never even attempted. After finishing the rough tapes James even edited the videos as well as reached out to some schools with questions he had- he was determined to give them exactly what they wanted. My husband and I truly could not believe how invested he was and we were so grateful. James had a way of keeping Hudson calm, making him laugh and boosting his confidence. Once the monologues were finished we asked James if he would write one of Hud's recommendation letters for the colleges. We had many choices but it was clear to us that James would write the most eloquent, articulate and passionate letter about who Hud was as a person and what he had to offer. I am happy to say that Hudson has received offers from many of the schools he applied to, and this is definitely very much due to James' hard work, dedication and determination! We look very forward to working with him again in the near future!

boost of confidence

James is an amazing interview / acting / public speaking coach. He calmed my child down and focused on using humor, rehearsal, and relaxation techniques from his British Drama School training to remove anxiety and have fun in a high pressure school interview situation, where he also taught my child strategies to put best foot forward and feel confident!

Very Patient And The Class Is Fun

My 5.5 year old daughter had an hour session with James today and she really enjoyed it. James was very patient and kept encouraging her all the time. He has his way to let my daughter stay focused and also feel relax enough to do what he taught. Most importantly, she was having fun and learning things at the same time. I saw my daughter learning many new acting skills in one hour. Even though James said that he had no experience of teaching acting with young kids around my daughter's age (I like his honesty), I think he is doing a great job. Because of his past experience in the theater industry, he is able to see what kids need to improve with their acting skills. Good job and thanks, James!

Passionate kid's public speaking/etiquette tutor.

James is a wonderful, fun tutor. My two boys have been working with James on their public speaking and general etiquette. James was very patient with them and taught in a way that really sparked their interest. He rehearsed different situations and introductions with them and gave them tips on handshakes, eye contact, posture and conversation. He also gave them great tips on making presentations at school and different relaxation techniques. They both enjoyed their lesson with James very much. James' passion for what he teaches really shows and the kids loved that.

Writing is possible with James.

James gave my son very good lessons on focusing and formulating ideas before starting to write. Something that seemed impossible is now possible with his writing techniques. Very reliable and flexible teacher.

Just what we needed

My daughter was changing schools. She had French from 2-4th grade, then Mandarin for 5th and 6th. She was transferring to a school that did not offer Mandarin and she decided to go back to French since she had enjoyed it before. My daughter has an ear for language; however, I thought that she would potentially be a year behind in middle school French since she had not had French in 2 years, and it was important to us that she enter the 7th grade going into 7th grade French. We set up a tutoring session with James. James arrived promptly and worked from the text book that we had borrowed from the school district. He was friendly, pleasant and flexible. He was an effective and competent tutor. We booked him for an hour and he was able to stay longer as it turned out that my daughter had the stamina for up to three hours of French tutoring at a time. We thought James was perfect for the job. My daughter made it into 7th grade French and will probably be in honors French next year. The teacher said that my daughter was more technically advanced than her other students since the teacher had spent 6th grade more on an intro/conversational class. We highly recommend James.
