My name is Peter, and I am a Master Certified Tutor through the College Reading and Learning Association. I have a Master's degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Clinical Psychology, and I graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Social Behavior, as well as a minor in Management and a minor in History. I was a member of several campus organizations, and volunteered at an after-school program for middle-school students and a high school tutoring service. At the after-school program, with the organization THINK Together, my responsibilities included tutoring students on their various class subjects. I was also honored by a Greek Honor Society at UC Irvine for showing exceptional leadership qualities. Currently, I am a Behavior Therapist for children with developmental disabilities as well as a tutor in several areas. I greatly value the power of knowledge, and enjoy assisting others in their endeavors to succeed. It is important to dedicate the necessary time and respect to academic endeavors.
In my free time I stay active by going to the gym, participating in long-distance running, volleyball, tennis, and swimming, and developing writing projects. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a CPI certified Behavior Therapist with experience working with children and young adults with ADD/ADHD. I am a very patient and calm tutor who has specialized in working with students with a diagnosis of ADD/ADHD.
Upon graduating from the University of California, Irvine, I earned a minor in History with an emphasis in American History. I have always loved learning about the history of America and continue to read related literature. I enjoy assisting my students to learn about the past relating to American History.
I am a professional Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapist for children and young adults with autism spectrum disorders. I have worked with clients in the home and school settings. As well as providing direct intervention, I have experience conducting parent and family education. Additionally, I am CPI certified. Thank you for your time.
For part of my Master's program, I enrolled in a Career Development course that instructed students how to assist others in the pursuit of a career.
Also, as part of my role at the Citadel's Academic Support Center, I counseled many graduating seniors who were embarking on the next chapter of their life.
For two years, I worked as an Academic Advisor for undergraduate students at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. My role included counseling students on academic, professional, and personal matters. Many students needed guidance pursuing graduate school and jobs. Also, I assisted in developing a program to assist freshmen students by teaching them necessary learning strategies to succeed.
I have worked as a tutor with many elementary aged students in areas such as reading, math, and grammar. Additionally, through my work as a behavior therapist I have spent a significant amount of time in elementary school classrooms assisting my students with their academics. I believe grades K-6 are extremely important years for students to build the fundamental academic skills to achieve long-term success.
After many years of tutoring students, I am a certified Master/Level 3 tutor through the National College and Learning Association. I have experience tutoring elementary, middle, high school, undergraduate, and graduate level students on grammar rules and principles.
I have a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Social Behavior. I stay updated with current research in psychology by reading journal and magazine articles within the field of psychology. I am currently employed as a Behavior Therapist for children with developmental disabilities.
I hold a M.A. in Psychology with a clinical counseling emphasis and B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior. I have worked in the fields of psychology and education with children and young adults with special needs, including autism spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and anxiety needs. Including my experience as a behavior therapist, as a tutor I have worked with children with special needs. I have a patient and understanding approach with all of my clients, and I encourage consistent development with my students.
For the past two years, I have been an Academic Advisor, as well as Coordinator for a college-level learning strategies program. I trained and administered a team of individuals who instructed students in one-on-one and group formats on items like study skills. I have created many tools that assist students with their study skills at any level of education.
I have played tennis my entire life. Upon entering high school my freshman year, I was immediately placed on the Varsity tennis team. In past years, I have stayed active playing tennis through recreational leagues and with friends in my spare time.
I began playing volleyball in elementary school with my sister after she joined her Junior High School's team. When I reached Junior High, I played on my school's first boy's volleyball team. I was team captain for 7th and 8th grades. Also, in high school I started my school's first boy's volleyball team with a couple friends. Usually, I found myself playing the position of setter, but have played all positions. I received many awards like Coach's Award and Most Valuable Player.
In college I maintained my skills by playing intramural and beach volleyball recreationally.
