My name is Soraya, I am French with Spanish origins, fluent in both languages. I am also a highly experienced tutor with a sense of humor! I believe that learning should be an enjoyable process, even when preparing for exams. Efficiency and fun are both key to me.

My name is Soraya, I am French with Spanish origins, fluent in both languages. I am also a highly experienced tutor with a sense of humor! I believe that learning should be an enjoyable process, even when preparing for exams. Efficiency and fun are both key to me.

My tutoring/teaching method: It is based on my student's needs and personality. We establish goals together, and I put a plan of action in place, providing learning materials if needed (Alter Ego books for beginners, exercises, grammar lessons, audio documents, AP French or Spanish texts etc.).

Background: I have a Master's degree in English with a minor in Spanish, obtained at Paul Valery University in France. I'm the creator of the French educational platform "Oh La La, I Speak French!" that offers free material (videos and exercises) to improve one's knowledge of the French language.

Experience: I have been teaching/tutoring languages for over 15 years now. I taught French as a foreign language at the University of Manchester, England for one year and then privately in London. I continued tutoring when I lived in Paris, mostly English as a foreign language. Since I moved to Los Angeles, over 10 years ago, I have been tutoring French, English and Spanish at all levels and to nearly all ages (I don't tutor children under 11).

I love people and I find tutoring very stimulating and enriching. I also like the flexibility of the job which allows me to combine acting, writing and producing activities.

Recommended AP French Tutor!

We hired Soraya to tutor our daughter in AP French, as she was not being adequately prepared for the exam in her class. I believe we started in November with once a week tutoring. My daughter just got her AP scores at the beginning of July, and she scored a 5 on her French exam! She could not have scored so well without Soraya’s help. Soraya had a good rapport with our daughter, gave weekly updates on the lessons to me via email, was willing to be flexible with scheduling and really focused on what the kids would be tested on. Soraya was very prompt and flexible in coordinating a session when my 15 year old son needed help right away.
