Hi, I'm Grace! I'm a PhD candidate in Psychology at UCLA with a minor in Quantitative Psychology, and I earned my BA and MA in Psychology at UCLA after starting at a community college. My graduate training is in Social Psychology and includes a three-course statistics sequence, multilevel modeling, and mediation and moderation analysis; I've also completed CourseKata workshops on teaching statistics. I hold a STAR certification through CIRTL, and I received UCLA Psychology's Shepherd Ivory Franz Distinguished Teaching Award.

I have taught in UCLA's psychology department since 2020. As the primary instructor at UCLA, I designed and taught Introductory Psychology, Social Psychology of Aging, and a graduate-level course on evidence-based pedagogy. Additionally, as a Lecturer at Chapman University, I currently teach Motivation and Emotion. As a teaching fellow at UCLA, I also taught weekly sections of Research Methods and Social Psychology independently. I have also mentored more than 20 undergraduate researchers one-on-one in professional development, research methods, statistics, data analysis, and writing. I have taught a variety of students, including high school students, first-year college students, adult learners, transfer students, non-traditional students, international students, and students with a diverse range of abilities.

My approach is patient and hands-on. Statistics can feel intimidating, so I start with what you already know, use everyday examples, and focus on the "why" before the formulas. You do the work, and I guide you with questions, so you leave with a better understanding of the material. I can help with intro and AP psychology, social psychology, motivation & emotion, cognitive psychology, statistics, and research methods. As a first-generation college student myself, I know how much the right support matters, and I'd love to help you feel confident in your class.

I'm a PhD candidate in Psychology at UCLA, where I also earned my BA (Cognitive Science minor) and MA and completed a minor in Quantitative Psychology. I've taught Introductory Psychology, a writing-intensive Social Psychology of Aging course (Writing II), and a graduate pedagogy seminar at UCLA, Motivation and Emotion at Chapman University, and sections of Social Psychology and Research Methods since 2020. I can help with Intro and AP Psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology, research methods, and writing psychology papers.
Statistics

Statistics

I'm a PhD candidate in Psychology at UCLA with a completed minor in Quantitative Psychology, including a three-course graduate statistics sequence, multilevel modeling, and mediation and moderation analysis. I use statistics in my own research every day, and I have completed CourseKata workshops on evidence-based statistics teaching. Since 2020, I have taught five quarters of Research Methods at UCLA and mentored undergraduate researchers one-on-one through their data analyses. I focus on the "why" behind each test before the formulas, so students gain an understanding of their results.
Study Skills

Study Skills

As a PhD candidate in Psychology at UCLA and a college instructor since 2020, I teach students research-backed study strategies like self-quizzing, spacing out study sessions, and connecting new material to what they already know. I also train UCLA graduate students in evidence-based teaching. As a first-generation college student and community college transfer, I know firsthand how much good study habits matter, and I help students plan their time, break big assignments into steps, and prepare for exams with confidence. I have worked with students from high schoolers taking their first college course to returning adult learners.
