Hi! I’m Emma, a recent UCLA graduate with a B.S. in Biology and a 3.9 GPA. I grew up in France and am bilingual in French and English.
I have experience tutoring students across a range of ages and subjects. I have experience tutoring students across a range of ages and subjects. In high school, I spent a year tutoring a family of four children, aged 6-16, helping them with homework and coursework across their school subjects. I loved figuring out how to tailor my teaching style to each individual student’s unique needs and learning modalities.
I primarily tutor biology and related sciences, French, and SAT preparation. As a biology student at UCLA, I learned how important it is to understand the reasoning behind a concept rather than relying on memorization alone. I especially enjoy breaking complicated material into manageable pieces and helping students develop strategies for approaching unfamiliar questions. I know that biology can be an intimidating subject, and my goal is to help students learn with confidence!
I also scored a 1490 on the SAT and would love to help students prepare for the exam - I had an amazing SAT tutor myself in high school, and I’d love to provide that same kind of support to other students! I found that much of SAT success comes from learning to recognize recurring question types, reason efficiently, and avoid predictable traps. I can help students identify their weaker areas, work through practice questions, and develop a more systematic approach to the test.
For French students, I can help with grammar, writing, pronunciation, conversation, reading comprehension, and school assignments. Because I grew up and attended school in France, I can also help students develop more natural, conversational French beyond what they encounter in a textbook. I’m comfortable teaching students of all ages, from middle schoolers taking their first French course to adults looking to learn a new language.
