I'm a fashion designer, patternmaker, and tailor in Los Angeles, and I teach sewing, garment construction, patternmaking, and portfolio preparation for students applying to fashion programs.

I graduated cum laude with a 3.7 GPA from FIDM — the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising — in 2015, with my Associate of Arts in Fashion Design degree.

I've worked in the Los Angeles apparel industry since 2013. I spent three years as a Product Development Coordinator and Sample Maker at RK Fabrics, handling major chain store fabric operations and garment sampling and fit correction.

Before that I was a menswear patternmaker and associate designer at Perdurabo Designs, an assistant designer at Daniel Rain for ZZ Fashion Corp and at SK Designs, a sample maker at Latrodectus Couture, and a product development coordinator at XL Fabrics. I also ran sewing operations at Santibañez Tailoring. Today I'm a tailor in Nordstrom's alterations department, where I'm apprenticing as a fitter/tailor. All this to say I am great at learning and teaching: I've drafted the pattern, sewn the sample, corrected the fit, submitted the technical sketches, and altered the finished garment on a real body, so when a student gets stuck I usually name the cause and help in taking their ideas forward.

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator

I've worked on fabric pattern developments and coordinating color ways since college. This has placed me to work in different companies correcting patterns, testing color ways, finding repeats and also being commissioned independently. I have a great understanding for teaching this skill.
Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop

I can create fashion rendered sketches with textiles, graphic effects, When working at fabric companies, I managed print systems using photoshop. I also edit images for printing; photography, prints, banners.
Drawing

Drawing

I graduated high a 3.7 GPA from FIDM with an Associate of Arts in Fashion Design, a curriculum built on figure drawing, croquis, and fashion illustration. I worked as an assistant designer at SK Designs and at Daniel Rain for ZZ Fashion Corp, and as an associate designer and menswear patternmaker at Perdurabo Designs — roles where I sketched daily and had to translate those drawings into garments a factory could actually build. I teach the fashion figure and croquis, proportion and gesture, rendering fabric and drape, and technical flats. My focus is the clothed figure and garment illustration rather than general fine art, which makes me a strong fit for students assembling a fashion school portfolio. Learning from the greats like Nancy Riegelman, Tereese Radenbaugh, Deborah Young, sketching and fabric knowledge started to become a fortified armor in my toolbox.
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I've spoken both languages and have facility in communicating with both cultures. When I lived in Mexico for a few months, I was the teachers assistant for our middle school English class. I can proudly say I helped in teaching my classmates and in turn became more familiar with Spanish sentence structure. I communicate clearly and very easily helping students scared in trying by giving them footing and genuine helpful tips.
Graphic Design

Graphic Design

I graduated cum laude from FIDM with an Associate of Arts in Fashion Design and have worked in Los Angeles apparel since 2013, including three years as Product Development Coordinator at RK Fabrics and two at XL Fabrics, both textile companies, where design work runs through print, colorway, and production artwork. An eye for design in the new age of social media was something built into my education. Learning from Ofelia Montejano fostered my talent and helped illustrate my career into the digital art era. I've used this skill in most of my jobs still even to this day.
Needlework

Needlework

I graduated cum laude from FIDM with an Associate of Arts in Fashion Design and have worked in Los Angeles apparel since 2013. My handwork comes from sample making — I was a Sample Maker at Latrodectus Couture Designs and spent three years sample making at RK Fabrics, where first samples and couture pieces are finished by hand. I also ran sewing operations at Santibañez Tailoring and am currently a tailor in Nordstrom's alterations department, which is largely hand finishing: blind hems, catch stitch, slip stitch, hand-picked zippers, and invisible repairs. I teach hand stitches, hand finishing, and hand tailoring technique, for students who want their work to read as professional rather than homemade.
Sewing

Sewing

I teach industrial and home machine operation, seam finishes, zippers, collars, plackets, linings, and fitting on the body, and I teach students to read fabric — fiber, hand, grain, and stretch — before they cut, because most sewing solutions come in understanding fabric variations.
