Hi! I’m Ysabel, a medical student at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA with a background in chemistry/STEM, research, teaching, and EMS.
I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a B.S. in Chemistry/Biological Chemistry and minor in Statistics, where I served as a teaching assistant for courses including Reasoning with Data and Experimental Chemistry. I also spent several years with Carnegie Mellon Emergency Medical Service, eventually serving in leadership and teaching roles as an EMT and CPR/BLS instructor. These experiences taught me how to break down complicated concepts, adapt my teaching style to different students, and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
I am now a medical student at UCLA, where I continue to build on my foundation in biology, chemistry, physiology, and other biomedical sciences. I especially enjoy helping students understand the “why” behind difficult concepts rather than relying solely on memorization.
I can help with subjects ranging from introductory science and chemistry to biology, physiology, anatomy, and pre-med coursework, as well as study strategies and preparation for demanding science courses. My goal is to make challenging material feel more manageable while helping students become confident, independent learners.
