Hi, I’m Clara! I’m currently studying at UCLA to obtain a bachelors of science in Psychobiology. I graduated as valedictorian from Fremont High School with a 4.0 GPA unweighted. I love learning, as is clear from my diverse range of hobbies including boxing, fashion, and singing. Academically, I’ve always been passionate and curious to gain a deep understanding of whatever subject I’m studying. For this reason, I’ve blossomed a love for a range of subjects that I hope to inspire in my students.
So far, I have 4 years of tutoring experience. Throughout high school, I was a member of the Spanish Honors Society where I helped my peers with their Spanish homework, practice conversation, and study for tests. My freshman year, I worked as an online tutor for two students, helping one with learning English and the other with 7th grade math and history. For four years, I took journalism where I wrote articles monthly and spent three years leading my team as an editor. I would edit articles and actively help students improve their writing. As for paid clients, I worked with an 11 year old on 6th grade math, and two 8 year olds on pre-algebra and English for the summer.
I cater my tutoring style to the subject matter, but I’m comfortable introducing new topics, providing problem sets/prompts, coaching students through gaps in understanding, assigning homework, and giving actionable feedback. I make an effort to adapt to a style that works best for each student, but I remain patient, encouraging, and attentive. I like to get to know my students through a free consultation so I can understand how to best support them.
Aside from tutoring experience, I’ve spent 4-5 years gaining expertise in the subjects I teach. I truly have put so much effort and joy into my learning, and I hope to help my students discover a similar passion for learning by finding how they uniquely learn best. Feel free to schedule a consultation, free of charge, or to contact me with questions. I am easy to reach and excited to teach :)
