I'm still competing, still improving, and still chasing the National Master title. Here's the thing that makes me different from most coaches: I didn't start studying chess seriously until I was 21, and I didn't hit 1800 until I was 40. Then I kept going, past 2100. So I know firsthand what it takes for an adult to improve. I also have a degree from Indiana University and years of professional experience mentoring people and breaking down complicated ideas in a way that actually sticks.
My lessons start with your games, not mine. I look to build a training plan around what you actually need, not some one-size-fits-all curriculum. Depending on where you are, that might mean game analysis, guided calculation, targeted exercises, opening prep, or practical endgame work, plus clear assignments between sessions so the improvement keeps happening when we're not talking.
I'm a great fit for adult improvers, ambitious beginners, and tournament players who want to see their rating actually move. My goal isn't to show you the best move — it's to teach you how to find strong moves on your own. You'll leave every lesson knowing exactly what to work on, with the material to do it and a realistic plan to get there.
