Hello, and thank you for visiting my profile! I'm Dr. Claudia, and I've been teaching science for more than 20 years, primarily Biology, AP Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science, with additional experience in Anatomy and Physiology. I hold a PhD in Molecular Medical Neuropharmacology and spent six years conducting laboratory research before dedicating my career to teaching. Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide variety of learners, helping students build both scientific understanding and confidence in their abilities. Over the past five years, approximately 90% of my AP Biology students have earned a passing score on the AP exam.
Whether you're preparing for an AP exam, taking a college science course, or simply trying to strengthen your understanding of biology or chemistry, my goal is to help you feel more confident and capable. I believe students learn best when they truly understand the "why" behind scientific concepts, so I focus on breaking difficult ideas into manageable pieces and connecting them to real-world examples. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is introducing students to current scientific discoveries and research because science is much more than a collection of facts to memorize—it's an exciting, ever-changing way of understanding ourselves and the world around us. My goal is not only to help students succeed in their coursework, but also to help them develop the scientific literacy and critical-thinking skills that will benefit them long after our tutoring sessions are over.
