My journey into education began at Georgetown University, where I first fell in love with the stories and struggles that shape American history and government—a passion reflected in my top AP scores of 5 on both exams, plus a 2100 on the SAT. At Georgetown, I learned that mastering a subject isn’t about memorizing dates; it’s about understanding the “why” behind each event. I carried that philosophy to UCLA for graduate studies, deepening my focus on how students learn best when content connects to their identities. That led me to earn my BCLAD English teaching certification and California certifications in Ethnic Studies, Social Studies, and ELA—credentials that help me design culturally responsive, standards-aligned lessons.
For eight years, I’ve taught middle and high school students in classrooms, one-on-one sessions, and summer programs for English learners. I’ve worked with ages 11 to 18, including those prepping for SAT and AP exams. My tutoring method starts with listening—students explain their approach to a problem, then we find gaps together. For history and government, I use primary sources and debates to turn abstract concepts into stories. For English and test prep, I break down complex passages and teach multiple-choice patterns while protecting each student’s voice. My BCLAD certification also helps bilingual students use their full language range as an asset.
