I am a History teacher, History Department Lead, and current doctoral student in Educational Leadership at USC with experience teaching middle school, high school, Advanced Placement, and college level courses. Over the years, I have worked with students from a wide range of academic backgrounds and learning styles, including honors, AP, general education, and English learner classrooms. Teaching across multiple grade levels has helped me become adaptable in the way I support students, whether they need help building foundational skills, improving confidence, or preparing for advanced academic work.
My tutoring approach is centered around meeting students where they are and helping them build the skills to become more confident and independent learners. I specialize in essay writing, DBQs, APUSH preparation, reading comprehension, study skills, organization, and breaking down difficult concepts in a way that feels approachable and manageable. I try to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, thinking critically, and growing academically without feeling intimidated. A lot of my teaching style focuses on helping students actually understand the “why” behind what they are learning instead of simply memorizing information.
In addition to classroom teaching, I have experience supporting students through one on one tutoring, small group instruction, after school academic programs, and college level coursework support. As a department lead, I regularly collaborate on curriculum development, instructional planning, and strategies that support student success across multiple grade levels. Because I have taught both middle school and high school students, I understand how to adjust instruction based on a student’s age, confidence level, and academic goals. Whether a student needs support catching up, strengthening writing skills, preparing for AP exams, or getting ahead academically, my goal is always to help them leave sessions feeling more capable, confident, and successful.
