I'm a Yale graduate (BA Political Science, with Distinction) with nine years of test prep and academic tutoring experience at C2 Education. I scored 800 SAT Verbal/790 Math, and earned 5s on the BC Calculus, Composition, US Government, and US History AP Exams.
At C2 Education, I began as a tutor in 2009 and was promoted to a Regional Trainer in 2013, a role I held until 2018. C2 uses a 3:1 instructional model — one tutor rotating among three students who may be different ages or working on different subjects — so the bulk of my tutoring hours involved juggling multiple students at once, with regular stretches of 1:1 work when cancellations allowed. I taught students of every age, from elementary school through high school seniors, including a number of students still building English fluency. As a Regional Trainer, I trained hundreds of tutors across dozens of C2 centers in Southern California, leading weekly onboarding sessions, building training courses, and developing curriculum for both students and tutors. That experience left me unusually fluent in the difference between someone who knows the material and someone who can teach it — only the second one actually moves a student's score.
Beyond standardized test prep and class assistance, I worked extensively with students on college applications and essays, several of whom were admitted to top schools, including Harvard and Stanford. I shape the material to each student's current level and push them to the next, regardless of where they start — whether that means working through foundational concepts or breaking into top-percentile scores. On Wyzant, I focus on SAT prep (all three sections), history, English, and high school math through Pre-Calculus.
Students who enjoy the material improve faster and retain more, so I work hard to keep sessions engaging even when the underlying topic is dry, something my students consistently appreciate.
