Hello! My name is Hollis, and I graduated from Yale University with a BA in English, concentrating in Creative Writing. Through my studies, I developed strong skills in close reading, analytical writing, and helping others clearly express their ideas. I currently work as a fourth grade teacher’s aide, where I support students across subjects in both classroom and small-group settings. I help reinforce core academic skills, keep students engaged, and adjust my approach based on different learning styles. I also work in museum education programming, where I lead interactive activities for a wide range of ages, which has helped me make learning more engaging and approachable. In tutoring, I focus on helping students build confidence in reading comprehension and writing, not just completing assignments but really understanding the material.
In addition, I’ve designed and taught a screenwriting and fiction workshop for high school students, where I created lesson plans and provided individualized feedback on student work. Overall, I’ve worked with students from elementary through high school in classroom, workshop, and one-on-one settings. My approach is flexible and student-centered—I aim to meet students where they are, create a supportive environment, and help them build both skills and confidence so they feel comfortable asking questions and tackling new challenges.
