Hi all! My name is Katie and I am a Professional Vocal Coach and graduate of the University of Michigan's School of Music, Theater, and Dance. I have a strong background in vocal performance, supported by formal training and years of hands-on experience as both a singer and musician. My studies include music theory, ear training, and vocal technique, along with continued independent work focused on vocal health and performance. As an active artist developing a large creative project, I stay consistently engaged in refining my craft and keeping up with evolving styles and techniques. In addition to voice, I also teach guitar, piano, music theory, and songwriting, helping students develop well-rounded musicianship.
I have worked with students across a range of skill levels, primarily teens and young adults, building both technical ability and confidence. My teaching is highly personalized: I assess each student’s voice and design exercises to strengthen breath control, pitch accuracy, tone, and range. I also incorporate performance coaching, helping students feel more comfortable, expressive, and authentic when they sing.
Lessons are structured yet flexible, typically combining targeted warm-ups with applied work on songs the student enjoys. I create a focused, supportive environment where students can grow at their own pace while still being challenged. My approach blends strong technical foundation with real-world artistic insight, so students not only improve their voices, but also develop their own distinct sound and style.
