History Professor with 17+ Years of Experience | U.S. History, African American History, and The Sixties
I am a college history professor with more than seventeen years of teaching experience in United States history, African American history, and the history of the 1960s in America. I hold a Ph.D. in History from the University of Connecticut and currently teach at Chaffey College. I have taught a wide range of college-level history courses and have helped students strengthen not only their understanding of the past, but also their skills in reading, writing, analysis, and historical argumentation.
I tutor students in U.S. History, African American History, Civil Rights history, and the social, political, and cultural history of the 1960s. I also work with students who need help with essay writing, thesis development, primary source analysis, research papers, study strategies, and preparation for college history exams. My approach is especially helpful for high school AP U.S. History students, community college students, university students, adult learners, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of American history.
My tutoring style is clear, supportive, and rigorous. I help students learn how to interpret historical evidence, understand context, identify major themes, and write effective, well-organized essays. Many students struggle not because they are incapable, but because they have never been shown how to break down a reading, analyze a document, or build a strong historical argument. I work carefully with students to build those skills step by step.
As a professor, I bring high standards, patience, and years of classroom experience to every session. My goal is not simply to help students complete an assignment, but to help them become stronger, more confident thinkers and writers.
