I am Ray, a music producer, composer, and educator who graduated from Berklee College of Music with a major in Writing, Composition, and Production. My musical journey began with classical training in violin and piano, which developed my understanding of melody, harmony, and musical expression. Over time, I expanded into modern music production, vocal production, and contemporary songwriting. As a producer, I have released two commercial records in the Chinese market and have also produced music for several fashion brand campaigns. These professional experiences allow me to bring real-world industry insight into my teaching, helping students understand not only how music works technically, but also how it functions within the professional music industry. I am currently signed as a music producer with The Hello Group.
Alongside my production work, I have been teaching music since 2018. I began as a kindergarten music teacher and later expanded into private tutoring in music production, songwriting, piano, and violin. During my time at Berklee College of Music, I also worked as a tutor supporting fellow students in music production and composition, helping them refine their projects and develop stronger creative and technical skills. My teaching experience spans classroom environments, one-on-one lessons, and online instruction, working with students ranging from young children to adults in their 30s.
My teaching approach focuses on practical creativity and real-world application. Rather than only teaching theory, I guide students through hands-on exercises such as producing tracks, developing arrangements, improving vocal production, and understanding how songs are built in professional contexts. Whether students are beginners exploring music for the first time or aspiring producers looking to elevate their sound, my goal is to help them develop both strong technical skills and their own artistic identity. I strive to create lessons that are engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student’s musical goals.
