Hello! My name is Ryan, and I am a third-year student at UCLA studying Physics and Mathematics. I have a strong passion for problem-solving and analytical thinking, and I enjoy helping students develop confidence in subjects that can often feel intimidating at first. My academic background includes advanced coursework in physics and mathematics, where I’ve developed a strong understanding of both foundational and advanced topics.
I have been tutoring math and physics for about five years. I began in high school when I was hired by my school to tutor students during summer school, and since then I have continued working with students independently. I’ve worked with both high school and college students across a range of subjects, and I’ve helped many students significantly improve their performance, including turning failing test scores into consistent A’s. One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring for me is watching a concept finally click for a student and seeing their confidence grow.
My tutoring approach focuses on building understanding from the ground up. Rather than relying on memorization, I help students develop a strong conceptual foundation so they understand why ideas work, not just how to apply formulas. During sessions I guide students through problems step-by-step, ask questions that encourage critical thinking, and connect ideas to the bigger picture so the material feels meaningful.
Because every student learns differently, I adapt my teaching style to match each student’s needs and goals. Whether a student is preparing for a test, catching up in a challenging course, or strengthening their overall problem-solving skills, I aim to create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas. My goal is not only to help students succeed in their current coursework, but also to build the confidence and analytical skills that will benefit them long after the class is over.
