Hello! My name is Krystana. I am a graduate of the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Narrative Studies and double minors in Cinematic Arts and Screenwriting. I have a love and passion for all things writing, storytelling, and art (especially the cinematic arts)! I have previous experience as a production designer for several short films and love to get artsy and crafty. I also have experience in literary editing for academic and creative writing as part of several courses of study for my major and minors. I have additional experience writing, filming and video editing for video essay assignments with Adobe Premiere Pro and Canva Pro.

I am a graduate of my high school's 3-year Video Media Arts CTE program (which I completed in just 2 years of study). As the previous president of USC's chapter of Delta Kappa Alpha Professional Cinematic Society, I am very comfortable leading groups big and small and cultivating a positive and supportive environment for everyone. During my time with DKA, I volunteered as a workshop lead for USC’s Troy Camp where I created and conducted hands-on lessons in film development and production for local students from South Central.

I am passionate about encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity in all my students! I will never incorporate generative AI or work with materials created with generative AI in any of my teaching. I believe every student has the capability to practice and hone their own skills of generation with their minds.

When I'm not in the classroom, you can find me exploring Los Angeles, playing video games and TTRPGs, painting, cooking and baking, writing, and filmaking. I look forward to being a support to you and/or your student(s)!

I am a recent graduate of the University of Southern California, where I earned my B.A. in Narrative Studies under the USC Dornsife English Department. I have experience writing a multitude of academic research essays on a variety of topics including: literature, Shakespeare, film, comparative literature, adaptive works, philosophy, and narrative structure. As a part of my major program, I completed an over 40-page essay exploring my senior capstone topic, which examined the recent rise of the literary genre “romantasy” and its parallels to mainstream science fiction classics such as Dune and the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Several of my academic papers are now published on Medium, with more to come from this past year. All of my work has been created without the use of AI in any part of the brainstorming and writing process. I also previously studied as a Pre-Law Philosophy, Politics, and Law major before pivoting to English, Film, and Narrative Studies. As a result, I have additional experience with studying the craft of making an argument as, at the time, I studied logic and validity along with participating in USC’s Mock Trial Team. I have additional experience navigating between straightforward academic writing and more creative and experimental essays. I myself have had to learn hone my voice and present my writing in a more scholarly way than comes naturally to me at times. I hope to be able to support students like myself how may have a difficult time articulating their thoughts in a “scholarly” way. I am hope to assist any students in learning how to craft a solid and sound argument that uplifts their voice while still adhering to expectations of tone and structure in an academic essay. I am also happy to assist with students’ general understanding for English courses!

Additionally, much of my program work has required me to deeply and thoughtfully engage with a variety of literary works from varying genres, time periods, and geographical locations. I am incredibly comfortable reading and digesting a text and its meaning and hope to assist your student in doing the same!
