I am a certified English educator and a current graduate student in Critical Studies/Creative Writing at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). I offer premium, highly individualized tutoring in English, writing, composition, and critical reading for students of all ages, with a specialized skillset for high school through graduate level learners.

I hold a B.A. in English from the University of Maryland and was a certified High School English Teacher in a large public school district. During my three years in the classroom, I successfully participated in three full evaluation cycles and was consistently recognized as proficient for the quality of my instruction.

My teaching philosophy is centered on Engaged Pedagogy—a student-centered approach that builds confidence and critical thinking, not just correcting errors. I focus on developing your rhetorical awareness, helping you understand the 'shape of discourse' so you can succeed across different academic contexts. My goal is to transform passive learners into independent, empowered writers and thinkers.

My background includes extensive experience supporting students with diverse learning needs. As a private educational support provider, I worked one-on-one with students, including those on the autism spectrum and with Down syndrome, by designing and implementing individualized, skill-based learning plans. If your student requires a patient, flexible, and customized approach to instruction, I am uniquely qualified to provide that support. My current role as a Teaching Assistant at CalArts involves grading and providing in-depth feedback for complex collegiate-level essays, guaranteeing I can provide rigorous preparation for college-level writing.
