Hi there! My name is Joy, and I am an experienced tutor and proofreader. I specialize in helping students with academic and research writing, although I also offer sessions for Psychology and GRE prep. Here is a little bit of context on me and my tutoring services:
About Me: In 2020, I graduated from Northwestern University cum laude with a 3.92 GPA, double-majoring in Psychology and Communication Studies. Since I was able to front-load several classes, I was able to graduate a full year early while also completing my Senior Honors Thesis, for which I received an award for best undergraduate honors thesis. In 2022, I obtained my MA in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago. This program was heavily research focused and involved my second independent research project/thesis.
Tutoring Experience: In undergrad, I worked part-time for N'CAT, Northwestern's tutoring service for student athletes. I primarily tutored for Psychology and Communication Studies classes. These sessions were all tailored to fit the individual needs of each student, and most were completed one-on-one and in person. Students saw immediate and positive results reflected in their course grades. Several of these tutoring sessions involved assisting students with writing papers, especially research papers. Outside of N'CAT, I have also done contract work as a proofreader, helping proofread academic papers for undergraduate and graduate students.
