About Joslynn

Bio

I'm Joslynn! I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.4 GPA from high school. I have an Associates in Acting and I’m currently studying for my BFA in Acting. Something I've learned throughout my schooling is that the way material is taught will affect how well a student retains said material. I've noticed in myself that it is worth it to go the extra mile and ask for further clarification on a subject, and I want to be that resource for other students. I'm largely a visual learner, and I like to teach that way, however, I'm very flexible in adapting my teaching style to fit a students personal and academic need.

I currently obtain a substitute teaching certification, and I have a year of experience substitute teaching in an elementary school, grades K-5. When I wasn't assigned to a classroom, I would pull individual students and work with them on subjects they were struggling the most in. I was able to gain both classroom and one-on-one teaching experience from this. Therefore, I feel very comfortable working with students of that age rage. However, I am also comfortable tutoring students at the middle and high school levels, as I excelled in subjects such as Math (Pre-Algebra through Algebra 2), English Composition and Literature, and Music, both orchestral and vocal. Additionally, I studied French 1 through 5.

I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, and therefore I welcome any recourses or suggestions that students or parents may provide. I want to make sure I stay within the learning perimeters of the students daily classroom, while giving them the extra support and one-on-one learning they require. I am easy to reach and I will always provide fast responses! Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!

Elementary (K-6th)

I was a long-term substitute teacher in an elementary school for two months. I taught grades K-6th, however, I spent most of my time with the K-3rd graders. I feel comfortable working with students of that grade level, as I understand the curriculum of the grade, as well as some helpful tips and techniques I learned during my time as a long-term substitute. I feel most comfortable helping students at this level in math, reading, writing, handwriting, and spelling.

I studied French 1-5 in high school and I've remained conversationally fluent in French. I am confident in my ability to tutor French 1-3.
