I'm Justin, a Computer Science student at Santa Monica College with a strong foundation in mathematics and programming. I currently hold a Computer Programming Department Certificate from SMC and will be earning my Associate’s Degree in Computer Science this coming Spring. Coding is a large aspect of my studies, and I understand how abstract or intimidating it can feel at first. This is why I decided to help students break those concepts down into approachable, everyday ideas.
My tutoring style focuses on clarity and engagement — I ditch the jargon and use analogies, visuals, and problem-based learning to make lessons stick. I emphasize understanding why something works, not just how to do it. When teaching coding, I use small projects and hands-on examples to show how theoretical concepts connect to real-world applications.
Outside of school, I work as a math tutor, where I’ve taught students of various ages from elementary through high school. That experience has trained me to adapt my approach for different learning styles and skill levels. For math, I guide students to build problem-solving intuition through practice and pattern recognition. Whether I’m helping a student prepare for an exam, catch up in class, or get ahead, I aim to make each session encouraging, organized, and results-oriented.
