Hi, I'm Smita! I am a fourth-year undergraduate student at UCLA, majoring in Computational and Systems Biology on the pre-med track. I am passionate about making complex concepts approachable and tailoring learning to support each student's individual needs. I also have prior experience as a freelance math tutor for middle and high school students.
Throughout my academic journey, I have demonstrated a strong grasp of material. I scored a 1570 on the SAT, with a perfect score in Math. I also earned a 5 on 11 AP exams, including Chemistry, Statistics, and Calculus AB/BC. At UCLA, I am on the Dean's List with a 4.0 GPA.
I now hope to share my expertise more widely by supporting students in both test preparation and subject-specific learning. I can provide tutoring in most middle and high school subjects, as well as lower-division college courses in the sciences. For test prep, I focus on the SAT and MCAT, having scored above the 95th percentile on both exams.
My teaching style is very hands-on and flexible. I walk through practice problems with students and offer answer choice analysis, building both understanding and confidence. I also provide test-taking strategies and help students build the mental stamina to succeed on standardized tests. I recognize that every student is at a different part in their journey, and I am happy to work together to create a study plan that maximizes their potential going into an exam.
