I graduated from UCLA with a degree in Chemical Engineering and earned a minor in Applied Mathematics. Additionally, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with 4 Associates Degrees in Chemistry, Math, Physics, and Math & Science and earned Student of Distinction in both Math and Chemistry. I spent three years tutoring students in STEM subjects including general and organic chemistry, algebra, calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, economics, physics, and computer science. I earned my Level 1 CRLA certification and worked with students both one-on-one and in class-size groups, ranging from high schoolers to nontraditional college students. My patience and ability to explain complex topics in a calm, approachable way led to the opportunity to work with students with learning differences or academic anxiety, many of whom chose to hire me independently outside of the normal school tutoring hours.
My teaching style is structured yet flexible. I begin each session by letting students bring up the specific topic or problem they are struggling with. From there, we step back and review the broader theory or mechanics behind the concept. Once they have a clear understanding of the “why”, we tackle their original problem together. To reinforce the material, I then introduce new examples that challenge their understanding and promote deeper learning. This method helps students not only solve individual problems but also build lasting confidence in the subject.
More recently, I’ve applied these same principles in a professional setting, coaching employees across departments in Microsoft Excel. I designed and led trainings that took learners from the basics of opening Excel for the first time all the way to passing the Microsoft Excel Associate exam, working with individuals aged 19 to 65+ and backgrounds ranging from high school diplomas to PhDs. Regardless of the context, my approach is always centered on clarity, patience, and empowering learners to grow.
