Hello! My name is Nicolette, and I’m passionate about helping students not only master academic material but also feel confident in their ability to learn. I earned my B.S. in Biological Sciences (Biotechnology) from the University of Southern California and am currently pursuing my M.S. in Translational Biotechnology. My academic and research background gives me a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and mathematics, and I also love working with students on writing and critical thinking skills.
I have tutored with The Princeton Review, supporting K–12 students in Math, Science, and English, as well as college students in Essay Writing. In addition, I worked one-on-one with a 5th grader throughout an entire school year, where I created lesson plans based on their curriculum, offered homework support, and reinforced daily lessons. By the end of our time together, I saw that student grow more confident in asking questions, more engaged in classwork, and more curious about how different topics connect. Seeing that growth reminded me why I love tutoring.
My tutoring style is supportive, patient, and personalized. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps and encouraging independent problem-solving once students feel ready. I adapt to each learner’s needs, whether that means preparing for exams, filling in knowledge gaps, or simply building confidence. With younger students, especially, I find that incorporating real-life examples from their favorite shows, foods, or hobbies makes learning more fun and memorable. Most importantly, I create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and discovering their own strengths.
I’d love the chance to support you or your student in reaching academic goals. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a first lesson — I look forward to working with you!
