I am Kumu, and am an educator with over 16 years of experience helping children and their families build confidence and thrive in and out of the classroom.

Over the years, I've worked closely with students from Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade, creating personalized learning plans that meet them right where they are. My work as an Education Specialist and Academic/Executive Functioning Coach has taught me that with the right support, every child can find their own version of success, especially those who learn differently.

Since 2021, I've led foundational academic skill-building in both classroom and intervention settings for grades K through 4. That same year, I was honored to be named Teacher of the Year for Culver City Unified School District during the height of the COVID pandemic. During that time, I introduced and implemented tools that supported online learning, helping students and families adapt to a new digital environment while keeping engagement and academic progress at the forefront. It's been incredibly rewarding to watch students tackle challenges that once felt out of reach and discover that learning can actually be joyful.

My goal as a teacher-and always-has been simple: to turn frustration into curiosity, and uncertainty into confidence.

I am a credentialed Special Education Teacher in California with 16+ years of experience. In those 16 years, I have supported 100s of students (TK-8th) in school and at home find success in subjects/classes they were previously struggling with by strengthening their executive functioning skills (i.e., planning, prioritizing, task initiation, etc.), study skills, and subject matter competence despite the challenges faced from ADHD. Together we will create an approach specifically tailored to you and your goals, while maintaining benchmark check-ins to monitor your progress. For each student, I develop a personalized approach rooted in their developmental needs and learning style. I incorporate regular benchmark check-ins to monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed. My goal is to reduce the overwhelm that school can sometimes bring and help your child feel more confident, capable, and successful in the classroom and beyond.
