Hi, I'm Austin. I graduated UCLA with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. When I attended college, I had a mindset shift from trying to memorize formulas and facts to focusing on understanding the concepts that underlie them. Through this change in perspective, I formed a deep passion for both learning and sharing what I learn. My main goal when tutoring students is to guide them to think independently at a deep level and build a spark that not only makes them feel like they are learning, but to make them excited to learn more.
I have a year of experience teaching community college students both online and in-person. I conducted lectures explaining various electrical engineering and computer science topics, hosted workshops that taught students practical skills like soldering, 3D printing, and laser cutting, and held office hours for students who felt like they needed additional assistance. I made an effort to check in on each student to make sure nobody felt like they were falling behind.
I attempt to break down complex concepts into simple, easy-to-understand parts. I love to teach using visuals like diagrams and animations to give my students an intuitive understanding of what they are learning. I want to foster a learning environment where each student feels like they are getting the most out of every session, hence I welcome any suggestions the students or parents provide to help tailor my approach. I'm free to contact any time to answer any questions or to schedule a lesson. Thank you and happy learning!
