I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Broadcasting from Ewha Womans University in South Korea, and I bring over a decade of experience in business communication and marketing. Currently, I’m on a path to becoming a bilingual speech-language pathologist, which deepens my understanding of how language is acquired and how to support learners with diverse linguistic backgrounds.
My approach to teaching Korean is highly personalized and thoughtful. Before beginning lessons, I offer a free consultation session where I ask each learner a few simple but meaningful questions about their goals, experience, and preferred learning style. Based on their responses, I design a customized short- or long-term curriculum tailored specifically to their needs. I work with students across levels—beginner, intermediate, and advanced—each with clearly defined learning milestones and individualized strategies.
My teaching experience spans a variety of contexts: I have taught adults who are complete beginners in Korean, heritage speakers looking to strengthen reading and writing, and bilingual children growing up in English-speaking households. I’ve taught in both one-on-one settings and small group formats, including volunteer work as a reading coach focused on pronunciation and expressive reading. As a bilingual mother raising multilingual children, I understand firsthand the joys and challenges of language development. I view each student not just as a learner, but as a whole person with unique motivations and strengths, and I am deeply invested in helping them grow with clarity and confidence.
