I've always loved learning, whether it was at one of the three elementary schools I attended, the clubs at my middle school, or one of my many responsibilities as a current senior at Evergreen Valley High School. Over the course of my education I've taken college level courses in graphic design, neuroscience, film photography, chemistry, physics, heredity, calculus (AB, BC, & multivariable), environmental science, psychology, U.S. government, economics, programming, and biology. As an incoming environmental science and engineering major at USC, a member of my school's national science honor society, and president of the Chemistry and Bioengineering club, science and math have always been my strong suit. I believe that "difficult" material is fun and that the way we learn things are crucial to how we see them and the world overall. I formally served as a teaching intern in 2023 from June to July with Innovation Learning Studios, teaching upcoming middle schoolers about business and graphic design and current elementary schoolers programming! My best memories that summer were the ones where I got to help kids learn things they didn't know they were capable of, and help them expand their curiosity by allowing them to ask questions and explore as much as they could.
Besides tutoring in that space, I've always informally tutored my friends when I could, and with collaborative learning being such a crucial learning method I've taken it upon myself to study the most effective ways for students to learn new information. While volunteering with the science national honor society to teach topics like cell biology and marine biology at Tom Matsumoto middle school, I also learning how to make lessons interactive and fun. To me, tutoring is about helping kids thrive, and encouraging them to keep learning no matter where the lesson may take them.
