My name is David J. and I tutor English and math. I specialize in teaching several forms of writing (creative, expository, and persuasive), grammar, and syntax and am qualified to teach them through the 12th grade AP-level. In 2017, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Classics (the study of the literature, history, and philosophy of ancient Rome and Greece) from the University of Southern California, graduating with honors. While I’ve worked in various fields since, I find that my greatest fulfillment comes from personal, one-on-one encounters and in situations in which I get to use my knowledge and creativity to help others. I find that tutoring satisfies these criteria and have been tutoring with 310Tutors in Santa Monica since early 2025.
My teaching style reflects my learning style: visual and tactile. For instance, in order to demonstrate something which is difficult-to-understand, I may draw it out on paper or find a real-life object or situation to compare it to. Nevertheless, I take great pride in helping each student learn with methods that are fun, creatively-challenging, and carefully-tailored to match their learning styles.
