I am a current MBA student concentrating in finance at Pepperdine University's Business School. I graduated Summa Cum Laude for my undergraduate degree from Pepperdine, majoring in business. I have deep knowledge of math, accounting, economics, and finance. I have experience tutoring my peers in subjects ranging from accounting to finance, and have experience tutoring students in all levels of math through single variable calculus.
I specialize in taking subjects considered complex and breaking them down to their fundamentals so they can easily be learned. I can draw connections from other subjects that a student understands and apply the connections to generate a breakthrough on subjects that the student is struggling with. For example, I tutored classmates on creating a discounted cash flow model for an MBA-level finance class. My pupils struggled to understand the theory behind a discounted cash flow model, but once I was able to explain the connection of how the model is simply a series of cash flows approaching infinity, the lightbulb went off, and they were successful on the exam.
I have a very strong understanding of math and its application. I have taken all of the required courses for a math major at Pepperdine to support my business degree. I have tutored college algebra and precalculus students, and I understand what materials and skills are vital to master at those levels before moving on to higher-level math. I am a believer in repetition for the fundamentals of math. I view all classes before calculus as skill-building opportunities, so I encourage my students to take our lessons as an opportunity for guided practice. While I am happy to explain theories and concepts, I plan my tutoring sessions so the students can practice the necessary skills under my guidance.
I have a strong understanding of fundamental economic theory and how it is applied in business and finance. I have written graduate-level research papers on the banking industry and securitization.
