I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Networked Systems at the University of California, Irvine. I have strong experience coding in both Python and C++, and have provided support to peers in these subjects as a college tutor. I gained interest in teaching while in high school, where I taught Japanese history and culture for two years alongside other students who were interested in teaching. Apart from this, I also tutored fellow students in Algebra 2 and AP Calculus, which gave me first-hand experience in handling a wide variety of academic capabilities.
After graduating from high school, I began to teach an Introduction to Coding course for elementary school students at a Saturday program that my church sponsored. I used the teaching and planning experience that I had gained previously and translated programming concepts into understandable and enjoyable concepts for young students. I am still involved in that program to date, ongoingly adapting instructional approaches to pursue my passion for evermore integrating technical proficiency into education. At UCI, I continue to tutor fellow students in their programming and calculus coursework, offering one-on-one tutoring.
Throughout my teaching careers, I have acquired curriculum development skills, modifying content for varied learning styles, along with effective communication and cooperation with co-teachers to deliver and more improved learning experience. Be it dealing with elementary students or college settings in the midst of peers, I aim to establish a strong foundation understanding and spark curiosity. I am a firm believer in establishing a setting where students feel comfortable questioning and are confident in their development.
