Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, I attended one of the top academic high schools in the country and graduated in the top 0.05% of the state of New South Wales (approx 60, 000 students). I made the move to Los Angeles to further my education and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre and Cinematic Arts from the University of Southern California (USC), where I graduated summa cum laude.
My strength as a tutor lies in the intersection of my passion for learning and storytelling. I understand that English is not everyone's favourite subject or strong suit, but I do believe that the key to bettering grammatical and analytical skills is often as simple as better understanding or more closely connecting with the language or narrative/text being studied. I'll never claim to be able to make everyone love English, but if I can shift the dial of understanding and enjoyment even just slightly, I know I've done my job!
I have 3 years of experience tutoring English for ages 8 - 18, both at a licensed company and privately. I have taught everything from basic and beginner grammar, spelling, and sentence structure, to advanced essay writing and text analysis.
