Hello, everyone! My name is Robin. I have been a teacher/tutor for as long as I can remember. I specialize in English, basic Photoshop, and elementary math skills. I have a bachelor degree in management and an associates degree in graphic design.
After graduating from Colorado State University, I began teaching English in company classrooms in southern Japan and stayed three years. There were around 25 students, mostly in their 20's, in each class and few of them spoke any English. I learned about preparing lessons beforehand, making use of the whiteboard, having students work in pairs, and most importantly, establishing rapport. I would go on to teach for 7 years at a Los Angeles language school named POLY Languages. The students there were from all over the world. Using the communicative approach, I educated students in all levels of grammar, pronunciation, and conversation. After this teaching experience, I returned to Japan once again and taught 7 more years at an amazing language school in Tokyo called Kaplan. Student ages ranged from 13~70. In addition to the core classes found in most language schools (as mentioned above), TOEFL test prep was also my responsibility. And this Kaplan branch had English festivals! Occurring several times throughout the year, students participated in business presentations, comedies, musicals, and dramas... and they had to do them all in English! These English festivals were the most exciting experiences I ever had during my teaching career!
More recently, I have begun teaching English and math to children, ages 9~12, in person and online. In addition, I have begun teaching basic Photoshop and Mac skills online to college age students and entrepreneurs.
In summary, I like to make my lessons fun yet informative, tailored to my students' requirements.
