I'm José, and I hold a Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics, a degree in Engineering Physics, as well as a Master's degree in Physics. I was recognized as the top student in both my Engineering Physics program and my Master's degree. I have over 8 years of teaching experience at the university level, where I've had the privilege to work with a wide range of students. I've taught both lecture-based courses and hands-on lab sessions in the School of Engineering and the School of Science. Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with students from various fields of engineering (including all civil engineering specialties), and I’ve also helped mathematical engineers, statisticians, physicists, and astrophysicists achieve their academic goals.

Currently, I'm pursuing a PhD in Space Physics at UCLA as a Fulbright Scholar. This opportunity allows me to dive deep into cutting-edge scientific research while continuing my passion for education. I’m here to help you not just understand complex scientific concepts, but to excel in them. Whether you need help with the fundamentals or you're tackling advanced topics, I’m ready to guide you every step of the way.

I hold a certification in pedagogical training for university teaching assistants awarded by the Faculty of Science at the University of Santiago, Chile (Top 3 school in Chile). Each session is conducted online and includes a summary of the key concepts before proceeding to problem-solving. My classes are designed for students in engineering and science programs, with a special focus on physics, mathematics, and astrophysics

Approved Subjects

AMC (Competition math)

AMC (Competition math)

I have extensive experience tutoring students preparing for math olympiads, and other advanced problem-solving contests. My background in Engineering Physics and my current PhD studies in Space Physics at UCLA have given me strong training in algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, and logical problem-solving,the core areas tested in AMC. I have worked privately with high-achieving students who participate in olympiads, helping them develop faster strategies, pattern recognition, and elegant solution methods rather than relying only on routine calculations. My teaching style focuses on building mathematical intuition, competition confidence, and the ability to solve challenging problems under time pressure.
Calculus

Calculus

I have served as a TA for Calculus II for 2 years at the university level, which has given me a deep understanding of the subject and the teaching experience to effectively support students in mastering complex calculus concepts.
Finite Math

Finite Math

I have over five years of experience working with finite math through both my academic training and teaching roles. For two years, I supported an undergraduate program where I helped students understand core finite math concepts such as systems of equations, matrices, and probability. For others 3 years I also led group tutoring sessions in the Central University Library, the largest library on campus, where I was recognized as a top-performing tutor for my ability to clearly explain finite math step by step. In addition, I have worked as a private tutor for economics students, helping them master finite math topics such as financial mathematics, statistics, and optimization for their courses and exams.
Logic

Logic

I have a strong foundation in mathematical logic developed through my training in Engineering Physics and my Master’s degree in Physics. I am comfortable working with formal reasoning, propositional and predicate logic, and applying logical structures to problem-solving in both theoretical and applied contexts. My experience also includes using logic to analyze complex systems, construct rigorous arguments, and support advanced topics in mathematics and physics. Additionally, I have taught and guided students in developing logical thinking skills for academic success.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I developed a strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering during my training in Engineering, where I also taught key concepts to undergraduate students. My coursework included solid mechanics and materials science, and I was specifically trained in compression analysis and Young’s modulus by a Mechanical Engineering professor. I also studied continuum mechanics, gaining a deeper understanding of stress–strain relationships in materials. As a final project, I designed and analyzed a column compression system to study shear and tangential stresses in structural support elements using Abaqus software for the numerical simulations.

I have University-Level Pedagogical Training, emphasizing effective teaching methodologies, student engagement strategies, and assessment design. This certification equips educators with advanced skills for facilitating learning, fostering critical thinking, and adapting teaching practices to diverse student needs.
Study Skills

Study Skills

I have several years of experience teaching and tutoring university-level physics, mathematics, and STEM courses, including serving as a teaching assistant at the university level for more than 8 years. I have been awarded a Teaching Assistant Award for Excellence in Teaching in recognition of my dedication to supporting student learning and academic success.
Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

I have a strong background in thermodynamics and statistical mechanics as part of my training in Engineering Physics and my MSc in Physics. I was the top student in my university thermodynamics course, demonstrating a deep understanding of core concepts such as energy conservation, entropy, and thermodynamic cycles, with additional expertise in statistical mechanics, including microcanonical, canonical, and grand canonical ensembles. I also worked as a university-level tutor for two years, supporting engineering students (civil and related fields) in mastering thermodynamics through problem-solving and conceptual clarity. I am comfortable teaching statistical mechanics in depth, connecting microscopic models with macroscopic thermodynamic behavior. My approach focuses on building strong physical intuition alongside rigorous mathematical reasoning, helping students succeed in both conceptual understanding and exam performance.
