I'm an active performer, composer, and educator in Los Angeles. In the last decade I've recorded over a dozen albums - eight are Grammy-nominated and two are Grammy-winning.

I hold a B.A. in Music Composition from Yale University, a Masters in Conducting from Rutgers, and a Masters in Screen Scoring from USC. I've taught hundreds of students in classroom, private, and masterclass settings, and take great pride in tailoring my pedagogy to each student.

I teach a range of students, from working actors in Los Angeles to rock musicians that play for crowds of thousands. I also teach tech executives looking to strengthen their voice for presentation, and beginners who want hyper-tailored instruction.

I currently work in studio recording in LA, sing with the Los Angeles Master Chorale, conduct choral and chamber ensembles, and write music for movies and TV.

Approved Subjects

Ear Training

Ear Training

I've spent my life studying music, and have trained my ears in classical, new music, and popular contexts. I have perfect pitch and am highly attuned to matters of listening. As a conductor, I use my ears professionally to help develop other musicians and craft a sense of ensemble.
General Music

General Music

I am a professional musician that actively performs with and composes for some of the nations top ensembles. My education spans a music theory, composition, conducting, history, and performance. I love leading students through a generalized curriculum designed to stimulate the many aspects of music-making - physical, intellectual, and emotional.
Music Theory

Music Theory

I have my bachelor's and master's in music composition/conducting, have studied music theory with some of the finest music theorists in the country, and have taught and tutored a variety of students in the subject. My own research spans metric modulation in Tchaikovsky to motivic development in David Lang and modal usage in Joni Mitchell. I love teaching fundamental music theory concepts in ways that make the subject fun, and can help more advanced students develop and refine new research questions.
Songwriting

Songwriting

I'm a composer and songwriter that works with a variety of ensembles and popular musicians, including Grammy winners Roomful of Teeth and YEBBA. I help songwriters develop a sense of melodic development, musical form, and lyrics creation to write songs that are high-quality and unique to their creator.
Voice (Music)

Voice (Music)

I routinely sing in professional classical, musical theater, and folk contexts. I've studied vocal technique and pedagogy with a variety of teachers in a wide range of styles at Yale University, Rutgers University, and elsewhere. My own approach seeks to connect individuals to their innate musical ability.
