Hi! My name is Jonathan. I’m a third-year medical student at UCLA. Before medical school, I spent nearly two decades living in Haiti and Sierra Leone as a global health leader with Partners In Health, working to rebuild health systems during major emergencies. I also love writing and storytelling and have crafted op-eds, blog pieces, podcasts, and speeches. I find the process of shaping ideas and structuring stories in compelling ways deeply rewarding. Now, as a medical student, I continue that passion by supporting future applicants as they navigate their own paths. I’ve worked with students at every level: tutoring elementary students in college, teaching high school classes as a Peace Corps volunteer, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in global health and public service. I’ve also served as a mentor with the Obama Scholars Program at the University of Chicago and created a photography course for Ebola survivors in Sierra Leone.
I love helping students think through their stories, identify which experiences will resonate most with admissions committees, and present them clearly and with impact. Together, we’ll clarify your goals and develop a strong structure for essays that communicate your ambitions and passion with purpose.
I also work with students on interview preparation. Having interviewed hundreds of candidates professionally, I understand how intimidating the process can feel. Simulating authentic interviews builds confidence through realistic, judgment-free practice. In these sessions, we’ll highlight your strengths, address areas for growth, and help you approach your interviews with ease and confidence. Storytelling, communication, and writing skills can all be strengthened through mentorship and practice. I’m excited to meet you!
