Hello there! I'm Ana. Right now I'm getting my Ph.D. in English from UCLA, but I've loved English and reading since I was a little kid. My mom always tells the story of how I was writing before I could even write (or read) -- I'd take a pen and scribble in a notebook as though I was writing a story. I haven't changed much over the years. I received a 5 on both the AP English Language and AP English Literature exams, and I graduated with highest honors in English from UC San Diego. I even won the award for best thesis -- it was 45 pages!
My doctorate program has introduced me to a new passion: teaching. I've worked as a teacher's assistant for veteran professors and even taught my own classes! I'm excited to work through writing and reading with my students, and I've included everything from 2,000-year-old poems to Black Mirror episodes on my syllabuses. While my specialty is undergraduate college students, I also volunteered as a teacher's assistant in high school, where I helped students my age with their work.
Essays, grammar, reading comprehension -- I'm comfortable with all of it, and more than ready to help. Feel free to message me at any time with questions or appointment requests and I'll respond promptly. I'm looking forward to meeting you! :)
