Hi, I'm Shwetha! I'm currently obtaining my M.S. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA. Prior to that, I worked at a technology startup in Torrance, CA, for two years. In 2023, I graduated from the California Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. I have taken extensive university-level math and physics courses, including calculus, differential equations, quantum physics, statistical mechanics, e&m, and circuit analysis. I am also independently interested in writing and I have won awards for my essays.
I have over four years of tutoring and TA-ing experience. Starting with my time at Caltech, I was a teaching assistant for an introductory computer science course taken by ~200 students annually. I also served as a Dean's Tutor for this course and several others. Since then, I’ve been doing freelance tutoring on and off for a few years and now run a small tutoring business.
I also tutor students in essay writing, including college essay writing and college applications. I work one-on-one with high school students on their college applications and in-class assignments.
I am also an experienced test prep tutor. I earned a 1580 on the SAT, with an 800 on the math section, and an 800 on the SAT Math subject test. I also earned a 170 on the Quantitative Reasoning section of the GRE. I took AP Biology, AP Computer Science A, AP Calculus BC, AP English Lang. & Comp., AP World History, AP US Govt. & Politics, and AP Statistics. I earned 5s on all of these exams. I am familiar with the content of all Math and Physics AP exams and I am comfortable preparing students for these exams.
I am skilled at using visuals and non-technical terminology to break down complicated concepts. I meet students where they are, no matter how experienced or inexperienced. I have a strong command of the English language and I enjoy working with students on both coming up with ideas for essays and improving the grammar and structure of their written work.
