Hello! I am an experienced ESL and English Grammar, Reading, Speaking, and Writing Instructor. After obtaining my BA in English Literature, I taught high school ESL in South Korea through the Fulbright program. Following two years teaching in Korea, I obtained my MA in Media Studies from University of Southern California. During my MA, I taught university and academic writing to undergraduate students at USC. I continued to teach at USC for an additional year after graduating. Additionally, I worked as a Writing Consultant at USC for 3 years. There I aided undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni on personal, professional, and academic writing projects. I have also successfully advised on multiple Fulbright applications where every applicant successfully received the fellowship.
Currently, I am an ESL teacher specializing in English Grammar, Reading, and Writing instruction to adult English language learners.
I have been teaching for 7 years in a variety of settings. I have taught in a physical classroom, digital classroom, and public spaces. I have taught to classes of 20-30 students and also one on one. Additionally, during high school and my Fulbright, I volunteered as an ESL tutor to local refugees in my community.
My teaching style is student-centric. I craft my lesson plans to fit the needs of my students. I am an adaptable and flexible instructor and can pivot a lesson when necessary. I believe in the power of scaffolding, and of student experiential learning. I believe teaching should be a nice balance of teacher led instruction (20%) and student led practice and presentation (80%). I am passionate about education and helping uplift students to their fullest potential.
