Greetings, students and families! My name is Kevin Trapp. I currently work during the day as a high school assistant principal. I enjoyed 13 years as a middle school language arts and social studies teacher. I then moved on to serve as a mentor to new teachers before spending the last 6 years as an assistant principal. As a tutor, I have worked with students ranging from upper elementary to high school - focused on writing and math. I have built award-winning PBIS programs at my schools, as well as structured individual academic and social-emotional support plans for students. As a veteran teacher, administrator, and tutor for the past 28 years, I am highly trained and experienced in supporting the academic needs of my kids - whether it’s one-on-one or a class of forty 8th graders.
I have achieved many years of success in my career because I live by the foundation that a tutor must build a strong working relationship with the student and make the learning experience meaningful. My experience and training are in helping students acquire skills in math and reading, from which they can build all future learning. Through my tutoring, students not only build academic skills, but also confidence in their scholastic abilities. My most extensive experience is working with middle-school-aged students, in both math and language arts.
The areas I have the most expertise in are developing readers and writers in the middle school grades, as well as elementary math, all the way up through algebra and geometry. I take my job, my clients, and their families very seriously. My strength is in my dedication, my adaptability to the needs of the students, and the trusting relationships that I develop.
