Bonjour!
My name is Sylvan and I'm a French native male with over 25 years of private tutoring experience.
I'm also a Piano teacher with 18 years of private teaching experience.
I have a BA from UC Berkeley, and a Master's in Music Composition from San Francisco State University.

I started tutoring French when I was in school, and continued after moving to LA in 2004. I've helped students from several local high schools in the LA area: Palisades High, Crossroads, Archer, New Roads,...

I have a BA from UC Berkeley, and a Master's in Music Composition from San Francisco State University.

I started tutoring French when I was in school, and continued after moving to LA in 2004. I've helped students from several local high schools in the LA area: Palisades High, Crossroads, Archer, New Roads, Windward, Harvard-Westlake, etc...And Colleges: UCLA, SMC, USC.
I can also help adults, beginners to advanced, learn the basics or practice their French conversation skills.

Although I prefer in person lessons, like many of us since the pandemic, I've done a lot of teaching on Zoom. So, I'm happy to tutor you even if you live in another city or state.

When I'm not busy tutoring French, and teaching piano to kids, I enjoy writing and releasing songs on streaming platforms. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Whether you're in school trying to improve your grades in French, or preparing a trip to France, I can help you!

Hello, Do you have a child/children eager to play the PIANO? I'd love to help them get started! I have over 18 years of experience teaching kids (as young as 4!). I use a very popular book series but I also teach pop songs my students want to learn, (Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, etc...) or movie themes (Harry Potter, Frozen, etc...). My background: Masters in music composition (SFSU 2004). I'm patient, fun and will drive to your home for the lessons! Thank you!

Genuinely the Nicest Tutor

Sylvan is genuinely the nicest tutor. He is very patient and passionate. Some other French tutors I have had were more intimidating while Sylvan is so kind and goes exactly at your pace.
