Orestis K. is a native Greek with a deep knowledge of every aspect of the language. As a Greek Instructor he combines multiple teaching methods, making sure that every student receives a personalized approach based on their needs, desires, strengths and weaknesses. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Athens, and has conducted research for the European Union under the title "The Role of Women in Significant Fishing Areas". Orestis is fluent in English and French. He is co-owner of a book publishing company located in Athens, which publishes books on ancient and contemporary philosophy, literature, essays and biographies. His multi-language skills are a must in this work field. After moving from Athens, Greece, to California in 2015 he began to teach Modern Greek Lessons both online and in person. Since then, Orestis has also been teaching Greek at the Greek School of the Annunciation in Sacramento.

For the past 20 years, Orestis has been working simultaneously as a professional musician. He has performed with important composers and singers in concerts and for television and radio programs. Orestis is an accomplished lyricist and songwriter and has performed his own songs for television and radio.

Orestis is the father of a little girl whom he and his wife are raising to be bilingual.

Orestis has been teaching Greek music from the past 16 years. He has worked for 15 years as a professional musician. He is a successful songwriter with everyday airplay in Greece and numerous appearances on television and radio shows in Greece over the past 10 years. Orestis has performed at the most important venues of Greece and has been collaborating with famous singers and musicians with numerous appearances on Greek television and radio. He released a personal CD in 2014, showcasing famous singers which, since then, has been receiving radio play. Orestis organized 5 concert tours of California and 4 concert tours of Cyprus with Greek music. Recorded for important recordings and performed in numerous concerts throughout Greece, Cyprus and California.

I have a deep knowledge of Greek which is my native language. I hold a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Athens, am co-owner of a successful book publishing company in Greece (Ekkremes Publications) and am currently teaching Greek at the Greek School in Sacramento, Ca. My wife and I are raising our child in a bilingual household. I have been playing bouzouki professionally for 17 years and teaching for 7. I know the Rempetiko and Laiko repertoire intimately, along with the history of this music. I am also a successful songwriter and lyricist.

Excellent teacher

I have had classes now with Orestis twice a week for a month and I could not be happier. He is an excellent teacher with a very positive attitude who does a superb job of blending grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation into the lessons while also making the classes very enjoyable. I truly feel my comprehension and ability with the Greek language has expanded after each class.

Simply the best!

He has been patient with my very difficult schedule. As a teacher goes I really thought it was impossible for me to learn the language I’ve tried with other people before and I’ve only ever had success with him! He’s very good at diagnosing your learning style and teaching you from your very own perspective. Also, he’s got a very calm reassuring disposition so my sessions are very relaxing and enjoyable but I truly do learn and accomplish a lot! I could not recommend him anymore! He truly is the best I never thought I would be so proficient in a language reading writing and listening this fast!
