It is a culmination of these experiences as well as currently assisting students in my classes at LBCC that I have determined to pursue a degree in music education.
What makes me a great tutor for the Saxophone? Firstly, the love of the sound of the saxophone. Secondly, the love of music. I first heard Stan Getz playing Bossa Nova in the early 1960's and that's when my love for the saxophone began. I started playing in junior high and haven't slowed down except for a brief time while being a 'daddy' to my daughter. My love of listening to saxophone/music at large has never stopped. In high school I competed in state competitions, and graduated earning a music scholarship to Seminole Community College, (Florida). I have taken applied saxophone studies in Florida and California. With the advent of the internet I continue to persue more expertise playing the saxophone. I currently play in South Coast Swing Band, a professional jazz/swing band in working in the southern California region. I play in other semi-professional big bands as well gaining more 'seat time' in bands/combos. I also get calls to 'sub' in various bands/combos in the region. I also had the chance to direct a local semi-professional big band which gave me a lot experience as a 'teacher' as well.
