I’m a professional writer and editor with a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and a background in journalism, television, and narrative podcasting. I teach writing workshops and work privately with writers and students on personal essays, book and podcast manuscripts, school assignments, and personal statements. In both settings, I seek to demystify the writing process and help students identify what they most want to say.

My writing has appeared in Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, Interview, Time Out NY, and Texas Monthly. I’m the author of a bestselling biography, and I recently co-created and wrote an award-winning documentary podcast. Across these mediums, I’ve learned how to turn ideas and complex material into clear, engaging stories.
As a tutor, I’m especially interested in teaching the fundamentals of good writing, with a focus on essays and nonfiction. I help students build a strong structure for their ideas, hone their voice, and learn skills that immediately strengthen their writing. When relevant, I can also teach strong interview and research skills. I provide detailed feedback and specific revision suggestions while keeping their perspective front and center. But I’m there to do more than polish the work; I aim to help students understand what makes it work so they can become more confident writers.
I also work with students on reading comprehension and text analysis, encouraging deeper engagement with written material and a real enjoyment of reading. I especially like helping students discover authors, subjects, and genres that spark their interest. I want students to leave feeling more confident about what they can do on the page—and less intimidated by the process.
