Hi, I’m Diego! I graduated from Stanford University, where I studied Classics and Biology, and I am an incoming medical student at UC Irvine School of Medicine. I specialize in College Counseling, AMCAS preparation, ACT preparation, Latin language/Classical Studies, high school chemistry, and college general chemistry. Academically, I earned a 35 on the ACT (99th percentile), a 516 on the MCAT (92nd percentile), and graduated from Stanford with a 3.9 GPA after completing coursework across Classics, Latin, Biology, Chemistry, and Pre-medical sciences. I also have experience as a published scientific research author through my work at Stanford.

I have three years of tutoring and mentorship experience, especially with middle and high school students in the East Palo Alto Ravenswood School District. In that role, I worked with students both one-on-one and in small groups, often helping them navigate material that felt frustrating or overwhelming. Some students needed help reviewing classwork, others needed stronger foundations, and others benefited most from structure, encouragement, and a clear plan. Across those settings, I learned how important it is to understand the student first, rather than simply jumping into the subject matter.

When I tutor, I try to make each session focused, organized, and responsive to what the student needs that day. I often prepare detailed lesson plans, but I also adjust those plans as we work through the material together. My approach is personalized and goal-oriented. My hope is that my students leave each session understanding the material better and feeling comfortable and confident approaching new challenges on their own.

My primary tutoring areas are college/AMCAS application counseling; Latin language at all levels; ACT preparation across all sections, including test-taking/mental preparation; and high school and college general chemistry. All sessions are conducted online for ease of access and flexible scheduling. I ask for at least 12 hours notice for cancellations.

During my own college admissions process, I applied to 15 undergraduate programs and did not receive a single rejection, earning admission to institutions including Stanford, Yale, Johns Hopkins, UC Berkeley, and others. I later completed the medical school application process, interviewing at top programs, including Harvard, Yale, Vanderbilt, and several UCs, and will be attending a competitive University of California medical school. My experience allows me to advise students on undergraduate application planning and admissions strategy, and long-term academic planning for students interested in medicine.

I have studied Latin since the 6th grade and later majored in Classics at Stanford University on the Latin language track. My training has included thousands of hours of translation work, with a focus on Latin grammar, syntax, vocabulary, and close reading of Classical texts. Through my Stanford coursework, I studied Latin language alongside Roman history, literature, culture, philosophy, and politics, giving me both a technical and contextual foundation for teaching the subject. I am comfortable tutoring Latin at all levels, from introductory grammar and forms to advanced translation and textual analysis.
