I am a Wake Forest graduate with a BS in biology and am currently finishing my final year in dental school. I had difficulty reading throughout elementary school and through this am able to better understand my students. I have tutored students in reading from kindergarten to 8th grade via afterschool programming. These lessons involved helping students with their homework, reading passages, answering questions based on readings, etc.
Study Skills

Study Skills

I am a general dentist and recently graduated after spending 8 years as a student in higher education. I had trouble throughout elementary, middle, and high school with my study skills, motivation, and test anxiety. I had to overcome this and teach myself how to become more organized at each new step in my education. I completed a BS in biology at Wake Forest University while also receiving minors in chemistry, neuroscience, and anthropology. This means I have taken, and succeeded, in subjects of all varieties. I then went on to dental school where I had semesters taking 30+ credits worth of science coursework. I have extensive experience in creating study plans, time management, test taking techniques, etc.

Knowledgeable, patient and trustworthy

Went over all the material thoroughly and efficiently and he is experienced in working with people and the dental school admissions process. Despite my conversation points being really difficult to go through and my thoughts being disorganized, you could just trust the situation creatively and come up with new perspectives for writing a brief personal statement. I felt really good about the topic and will definitely be scheduling more lessons. I recommend this tutor. Easy-going and makes anxiety disappear which is all you could ask for with a tutor. I felt at ease and was able to relax and write after having a lot of writer's block. The critiques and feedback were a solid 2 hours. Very good if English isn’t your first language. Super knowledgeable about dental school prep for non-trad student app.
Good focus on prep/planning.

Knowledgable and Communicative

Ben is an amazing tutor. He is qualified and experienced about the DAT material and my session with him was productive and informative. I requested tutoring specifically on the Reading Comprehension section of the DAT and Ben set up a whole new strategy for me that I would not have been able to create on my own. His strategy is great for people who have difficulty remembering what they read or are unable to find the details quickly from the passages. He provided me with a strategy that he used and walked me through the whole process by practicing with a passage where he showed me how to utilize the strategy. I highly recommend Ben as a tutor and he went above and beyond.
